Residents of Durumi and its neighbouring communities in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the nation’s capital have expressed gratitude to Atiku/Okowa Campaign Organization through the Office of the Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Gender Issues and Women Advancement who hosted a free eyes medical intervention and distribution of reading glasses to those with sight challenges.
The event, which took place at the Chief Palace, Durumi II, Abuja, Wednesday, had in attendance men and women whose eyes were tested to determine level of intervention. Some were given reading glasses instantly while others were referred to hospitals for eye surgery with all expenses fully paid.
Some beneficiaries; Godiya Tanimu, Isaac Shiloba, Chachiria Achi Anyidadubo and Tabitha Dauda who spoke with newsmen expressed gratitude the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the kind gesture of reaching out to them in their rural communities.
They commended Atiku for giving them hope of having their eyes problems solved while wishing him success in all his endeavours.
Speaking with newsmen at the venue of programme, the Special Assistant to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Gender Issues and Women Advancement, Dr. Lynne Bassey, said her principal directed her to offer the services to people across the nation.

“We are here in Durumi community to offer free eyes care services. We spoke with the chief and there is need for that around here. His Excellency Atiku Abubakar instructed that I come this way and attend to Nigerians. Every Nigerian who has sight issue should come out and we will attend to him.
“If you need medicated eyes glasses, we give it to you, then if you need cataract surgery, we book you with all-expense paid, courtesy Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“As his Special Assistant Gender Issues and Women Advancement, my job is in the field of human development and capacity building. Yes, he is running to be the president of Nigeria, and he is using me to test-run if Nigerians really know they need to have a better living condition.
“I will plead that you vote for Atiku, because a person that gives you a better living condition is better than a person that gives you peanut”, Bassey said.
Also speaking newsmen, Captain Walid Bin Alua from the campaign office, “Atiku wants people to see so that they can know whom to vote for. We have been trying for all Nigerians, and from here we are going to Adamawa and all other parts of the country”.
