The chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Honourable Abdullahi Adamu Candido has shut down all official activities at the Area Council for the period of two weeks as a preventive measure against the deadly Coronavirus.

According to a post by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Jibreel Muhammad Babangoshi on Thursday, March 19, the chairman directed all AMAC staff and political appointees to stay at home for a two-week break with effect from Friday, March 20.

“As a result of preventive measure against the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Digital and Conceptual Chairman of AMAC, Hon.  Abdullahi Adamu Candido directed all AMAC staff and political appointees to stay at home for two weeks break with effect from tomorrow Friday, 20th March, 2020” Babangoshi said.

He further revealed that only essential staff and statutory appointees are to be at work from 9am to 1pm daily for the two weeks.

He further gave some prevention tips, which he advised the people to observe: “Wash your hands, don’t pick your nose, don’t bite your fingers, avoid touching your face, practice social distancing”.

Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) is one of the six area councils that make up the Federal Capital Territory, the nation’s capital.
