Barely four months into the second tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, have political permutations begun for who becomes Nigeria’s president in 2023.
Last weekend, posters bearing the images of national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Adams Aliyu Oshimhole and that of Kaduna State governor, Mallam Ahmed Nasir el-Rufai were sighted on the streets of Abuja, the nation’s capital.
These posters conspicuously decorated pillars at the Apo Bridge and other parts of the FCT with the caption ‘MANDATE 2023’.
It has APC logo, images of the two leaders and eight reasons why both of them should run for the coveted positions. The poster suggested some reasons as follows: “The duo with great attribute of loyalty; the duo with a great sense of integrity; the duo who are very peace loving; the duo that believe in democracy; the duo that glows with honesty; the duo that believes in the restructuring; the due that do not believe in godfatherism in Nigeria politics, and the duo that believe in national unity.”
The appearance of these posters is already generating mixed reactions amongst the residence of the federal capital territory, but whether the permutation is a reality or not, only time shall tell.
