Supplementary elections into pending Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA) II in Rivers state was held with All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sir Collyns Owhonda delisting self from the ballot and pulling support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Despite ranking second in the February 25 National Assembly original elections for the PHALGA II seat, Owhonda said there was no need contesting the supplementary polls because he realised Rivers APC has been unserious about elections.

He added that he pities Tonye Cole, the party’s guber candidate over perceived betrayal by the party’s leadership in the fight to contest outcome of the 2023 Rivers election.
