The management of an online news magazine, RegentAfrica has issued a press statement apologizing to the family of Alhaji Idris Yusuf of Ajagwumu village of Dekina local government area of Kogi state over their inability to verify a story on a case between them and one Prince Abdurahman Obaje.
This was made known to Nation’s Pride by Mr. Shola Akingboye, the publisher, Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
According to the statement, “We write to express our regrets and apology over a story published on July 27th, 2020, on our online platform titled: ‘Help! My Late Ex-wife Still Haunt Me with Court Orders – Abuja Journalist Cries Out’
“The journalist cries out to the public, alleging his late ex-wife’s still hunts him with court orders from great beyond through her family members, who he alledged evacuated his property without a court warrant, wherein some allegations of unfaithfulness by late ex- wife, extremism and meddlesome on the parts of her family were also made, particularly against one Mrs Sarat Ojoma Yusuf, the elder sister to the late ex-wife of the journalist, Hafsat Yusuf.
“The publication was based on a press statement, which we regrettably assumed to be reliable at the time of publication. Since the publication, however, we now have reasons based on some fresh facts to believe that the story was not duly verified to be correct before the publication.
“In view of the foregoing, we hereby tender our unreserved apology to the family of Alhaji Idris Yusuf’s family of Ajagwumu Village, Dekina Local government, Kogi state, over the said publication, even as we regret any distress, embarrassment or inconvenience which the publication may have caused members of the family.
“We hold Alhaji Idris Yusuf and Mrs Sarat Ojoma Yusuf in high esteem and assure them that such oversight will not re-occur in future.
“May the gentle soul of Hafsat Yusuf rest in perfect peace, Amen”, the statement read.
