The Senior Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Mr.

John Waje Mamman who was reportedly kidnapped by suspected herdsmen has regained his freedom after four days in the hands of the abductors.

The commissioner of police Nasarawa State Barrister Bola Emmanuel Longe who confirmed the released some pressmen in the state on Wednesday said the police mounted tight security surveillance in the area via tip-off on the likely hideout of the kidnappers.

According to him, one person was arrested on the day of the kidnapped and seven others were later arrested in connection with the said issue.

“We launched an intense pressure on the kidnappers who based on information were at a village along Doma town. They could not help but released Mamman on Wednesday morning.

“We later arrested three other suspected kidnappers who engaged our men in a shootout and wounded them. One of the suspects escaped. Among the two arrested, one of them was badly wounded”, he commissioner said.

Meanwhile, the Kidnapped victim said he has forgiven his kidnappers “For they don’t know what they are doing”

“I have forgiven them and I pray they will repent of their sins. I don’t pray any of my friends and relations to be their victim”, he said 

Mamman however thanked all those who played one rule or the other as regards his freedom with special emphasis to Kokona stakeholders, security agencies and journalists.

It would be recalled that he was kidnapped on Saturday evening in his house at Dari, in Kokona Local Government Area of the state.

On his part, the chairman of Kokona Local Government Council, Hon Saidu Kurki said the entire people of the area were happy as regards Mamman’s freedom saying that as the chief security officer of the local government he will continue to ensure that security of his people remains Paramount.
