The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has expressed its determination to collaborate with the Nasarawa State University Keffi, in order to improve the standard of the institution.

The Speaker of the House Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, stated this recently, while playing host to the management of the university led by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Suleiman Mohammed.

Abdullahi, who spoke through the Deputy Speaker, Mr Nehemiah Dandaura, said the assembly was determined to support the institution to meet with global best practices.

The speaker said that the importance of education to societal development cannot be overemphasized, hence the need of the Assembly’s commitment in that direction.

“We will do everything humanly possible to improve on the standard of education in the institution and the state at large as such we will support the institution to make it meet up with international best practices in the interest of development,’’ he said.

Abdullahi then commended the vice chancellor for being up and doing in improving on the standard of education in the institution and called for its sustenance.

“We are seeing and hearing on what you are doing positively in improving on the standard of education in the institution and we are urging you to maintain the tempo as on our part, we will synergies with you to ensure that the standard of education is improved in the institution,’’ he added.

The speaker further assured of the House’s determination to make laws and pass resolutions that would have direct bearing on the standard of education in the state.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor said that the visit was to officially inform the speaker and members of the House on the forthcoming 6thcombined convocation of the institution scheduled for March 27 and 28.

“We are here to officially inform the Speaker and other Honourable members on the forthcoming 6thcombined 12th, 13th & 14th convocation ceremony of the institution,’’ Mohammed said.

According to him activities lined-up for the convocation include inauguration of projects and convocation lecture
