The Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Alhaji Sule has urged members of National Youth Service Corps newly posted to serve in the state to emulate the outstanding performances of their predecessors who according to him they lived to the ideals of the scheme.

The governor who made the assertion in his speech during the occasion of swearing in ceremony of the 2020 batch ‘A’ Corps members deployed to Nasarawa State held at Magaji Danyamusa Permanent Orientation Camp, Keffi today, also advised the corps members to leave above board in the discharge of their national assignments in line with NYSC scheme for the benefit of the nation.

In his words, “Similarly, I urge you to exhibit a high sense of commitment and due diligence by contributing your quota to the overall development of our societies. Let me take the liberty of this occasion to inform you that this administration places high premium on hard work”.

He continued, “It is for this reason that the government will continue to support especially corps members who distinguished themselves in the service of our nation in this state. I need to reiterate that corps members that initiate projects or programs that would touch the lives of people where the actually serve would be recognized appropriately. I will assure you of our commitment to improve and sustain the welfare of Corp members in the state”.

The governor however promised to give the said Corp members ten cows for their feeding within the three weeks of the camping exercise.

On request of vehicles and other office equipment earlier tendered to him by the state coordinator of the scheme the governor said he would look into it with immediate effect and comply in order to boost their services.

 Earlier on in his opening speech at the occasion the NYSC, Nasarawa State coordinator Mr. Gabriel Stephen Dewan said ” I wish to draw your attention sir, to the ever increasing number of Corp members deployed to serve in the state, in view of this, like the Oliver twist, I wish to crave the indulgence of His Excellency to kindly make an upward review of provision to augmentation of feeding Corp members on camp. Again, let me express our profound gratitude to His Excellency over the newly introduced e – payment platform for corps members state allowance which has greatly ease the process”.

On their preparatory to ensure that both Corp members and officials in the camp are protected from contacting deadly virus he said,” We therefore wish to assure His Excellency, the good people of Nasarawa State, our Corp members, their parents and guardians that there is absolutely no cause to fear, as we are on top of such situations.
