The Medical Director and Chief Executive of Federal Medical centre, Keffi in Nasarawa State, Dr. Yahaya Baba Mohammad, has said due to the magnificent master plan of their proposed permanent site it may take 50 to 100 years before completion in order to stand the test of time saying now that the permanent site’s certificate of occupancy is in their hands the project shall commence as soon as funds are available.

The Medical Director who made the pronouncement in an interview with journalists during the occasion of the centre’s opening ceremony for 2020 SERVICOM Committee/NODAL and Desk Officers Networking retreat held at New Keffi Hotel, recently also dedicated an award of excellence presented to him at the occasion to all the hard working staff of FMC, keffi

His words, “Construction of our permanent site will come as soon as we are able to get the funds, but that is not the language as it is right now we have to make sure that we develop a master plan that will stand the test of time that will be a thing of pride for our generation.

“It is going to remain a centre of reference and of service to our people in the next 50 to 100 years just like what we inherited here that we have suddenly overstretched to make it bigger. It was started over 50 years ago, most of the people who started it are not here today.

“We are all the beneficiaries of that singular well planned initiative. So we will also want to leave structures that will last beyond. Hospital that even our children and grandchildren can benefit it in the future”.

He continued,” On project cost, I can’t tell now, because the project shall last for up to 100 years, but we are not going to lose commitments on the project and with time when we develop it, we will move there”.

Answering a question in respect of attitudinal change of staff of FMC Keffi since he came on board, the MD said, “I really want to thank my workers for the great change that they have already imbibed. They have been the epitome of excellence that we are witnessing in the hospital since I came on board”.
