Vice President Yemi Osibanjo has described the purposeful acumen he saw by the Nigeria famers’ group and cooperative society at Ga’ate farms center in kokona local government area of Nasarawa State as awesome and credible saying that, he was optimistic the farm will start exporting their farm products.

Osibanjo who made the observation while presenting a speech during the multi million naira farm foundation laying ceremony of 1000 tones per day rice processing facility at the farm last week, stated that he has seen a lot of hope that Nigeria can work very well again.

“If the people of this country can do all of what we are seeing here today, growing rice, other grains and also selling the products will become an easy thing; I am very sure they will soon start exporting it”, the VP said.

In his speech at the occasion, the Nasarawa State Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule said, “Your Excellency the vice president of Nigeria, I want to sincerely thank you for the interest you have, not only in agriculture, but in Nigeria traders and most importantly in Nasarawa State as well as in whole country. Your love for this country will continue to be remembered.

“I also want to use this medium to once again call on our youths in Nasarawa State to emulate from what this young men and women are doing here, so that we can now have about 10 to 15 of such farms in Nasarawa State.

“Because we do have the land, we have the communities that are very friendly and then we have the opportunity for the knowledge; the greatest thing that they are doing here is technology transfer and this is what we want in Nigeria. I want to sincerely thank the coordinator of this farm project Mr Tedheke Retson on behalf of the association”.

Earlier on in his opening remarks, the national coordinator/managing director of the farm, Mr Tedheke Retson, said they decided to invest in Ga’ate community in Nasarawa State owing to the fact that Ga’ate is peaceful, the people of the area are friendly and reasonable.

According to him, they got to their present position from 100 hecter lands to 3000 hecter of land with minimum support adding that Nigeria banks have so far failed them 100 percent.

“It will interest the general public to note that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture has supported us a lot. This association has well been supported by KIAKIA BITS LIMITED. In fact the group is among the major brain behind us” Retson said.
