Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has vowed not to probe the three governors that were in charge of the state from the return to civil rule in 1999 till 2019 when he took over. He advised the vice chancellor of Nasarawa State University to emulate such principle in order to forge ahead with the tasks ahead.
The governor made this known while delivering a speech on the occasion of Nasarawa State University, Keffi second stakeholders’ meeting on Saturday, 14th September, at the university, and urged the vice chancellor of the institution to remain focus and forget about the liabilities he inherited from the past administrations.
“You will never hear me complaining about my predecessors, because I am focused, I am forging ahead and this is what I will do as the governor of Nasarawa State. By God’s grace I will never, for one day, complain about my predecessors; Senator Abdullah Adamu, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe-Doma of blessed memory or Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura, because I have a direction and that is exactly my principle.
“On this note let me congratulate Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed on his well-deserved appointment as the vice chancellor of this university. In fact I am so happy that I became governor when you are the vice chancellor with energy and zeal to develop the university”.
The governor gave the advice on the backdrop of huge financial liabilities of over N1.7 billion inherited by the university’s current administrator, saying as the current governor of the state he will never complain about his predecessors rather he will concentrate and do the needful for the people of the state.
His words, “If you find yourself in such condition I advise you to put it behind and move forward; just build the university. Forget about what has happened, where it happened or who did what. I just saw the total liabilities of N1.7 billion that you are worrying about.
“When I came on board years back as the managing director of African Petroleum I inherited over 22 billion debt and over 8 billion naira debt balance sheet.”
