The principal, School of Health Technology, Keffi, Nasarawa State, Mr. Suleiman Mohammed, has admitted that when he came on board to the school he met on ground issues of admission racketeering and other abnormalities.

The school administrator said, he urgently intervened by establishing and strengthening the institution’s information and communication technology (ICT) capacity in such a way that applicants who don’t have the prerequisites qualifications into the school were rejected by the system instantly.
Mohammed made this known in an interview with newsmen during the occasion for orientation of 2019/2020 newly admitted students on Friday 13th September, 2019, said that aptitude test and interviews were also part of the criteria used for shortlisted candidates.
Suleiman Mohammed, who was a retired permanent secretary with the Nasarawa State civil service commission, lamented that when he came on board he also met three categories of students in the school describing them as regulars, flutters and basic respectively, and when he went through their documents many abnormalities were traced.
His words, “We have to wear human face and discussed with some students who were having deficiencies that if they stay here 10 years they will not graduate. We advised them and they saw reasons and withdrew by themselves. We further took some steps by withdrawing so many of them in order to have sanity in the school”.
On the issues of the school yearning for relocating to a permanent site, the administrator said, “You can see the environment the space is not enough. Ideally from the beginning this is a temporary site and actually the state government has already identified the permanent site.
“We are likely going to be relocated. Not to relocate in totality but that may serve as a permanent site or annex because is more spacious, more befitting and can accommodate the numbers of students we have.”
According to him, out of 1,987 prospective students that applied for the said admission only 1,205 were admitted.
He congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to take their studies and other activities of the school seriously advising them to shun social vices of any kind as defaulters will not go unpunished.
